The MD|DC Credit Union Association named Salus the winner of its 2026 FinTank competition, held during the Association’s recent annual Tech Summit.

Four fintech companies took the stage on day two of the Summit to pitch solutions designed to help credit unions better serve their members. Attendees voted in real time, with Salus receiving the most votes and taking this year’s FinTank title.

“We’re thrilled to win FinTank, but the amazing part is what FinTank represents — credit unions consistently searching for the best ways to deliver for their members,” said Salus founder James Chemplavil. “Credit unions were founded on reaching people who weren’t well served by traditional financial services. Reaching Gen Z members represents the same opportunity of older generations. We’re excited to help credit unions meet a new generation of members where they are.”

Salus Financial Technology focuses on helping credit unions attract and retain Gen Z members by offering financial products and services designed around the needs of younger consumers.

Its solutions include digitally delivered microloans, earned wage access, rent payment reporting and predictive analytics. The goal is to help credit unions provide relevant financial solutions to younger members while building relationships that can grow over time.

FinTank gives credit union leaders a chance to see new technologies firsthand, ask questions and consider which ideas could make a real difference for their members.

This year’s other FinTank participants were Granguard, Payfinia and PayOnward.
