He will continue to serve as Chairman. Harper, who joined the board in April 2019 under President Donald Trump, was named chairman in January 2021 by President Joe Biden. That term ended in April 2021.

“Congratulations to Chairman Harper on his reappointment to the NCUA Board,” said John Bratsakis, MD|DC Credit Union Association president and CEO. “We look forward to working together to strengthen the credit union system and serve in the best interest of members.”

Prior to joining the NCUA Board, Harper served as director of the agency’s Office of Public and Congressional Affairs and chief policy advisor to former Chairmen Debbie Matz and Rick Metsger. He also previously worked for the House as a subcommittee staff director and as legislative director and senior legislative assistant to former Pennsylvania Rep. Paul Kanjorski.

Chairman Harper spoke at the MD|DC Credit Union Association’s Annual Advocacy Lunch last month.
