Andrews FCU Donates Money to Boy Scout Troop in Belgium

Andrews Federal Credit Union recently donated money to Boy Scout Troop #325 from SHAPE, Belgium for their trip to the Flanders Field American Cemetery to participate in the Memorial Day remembrance ceremony.

The annual ceremony is held in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom and were not able to return home. This year, the 73rd Anniversary of the end of World War II, finds fewer and fewer surviving veterans who can continue to tell younger generations of their experiences. It is a very special experience for the Boy Scouts to be able to observe the ceremony, as well as assist with the event logistics. This not only provides them with volunteer hours but also the invaluable experience of being able to witness the atrocities of war, first hand.

“It is very humbling to be part of this ceremony and remember those who lost their lives in the war,” said Andrews FCU Chievres Branch Manager Joshua Barrett. “I am grateful that we could provide the funds for the Boy Scout troop to be able to travel and attend the ceremony.”
