Governor Hogan Leads Jealous in Latest Poll

Maryland’s Republican Governor Larry Hogan holds a commanding lead over his Democratic opponent Ben Jealous in the first independent poll since the June primary.

Hogan leads Jealous 52 percent to 36 percent with 11 percent of likely voters undecided. The poll was conducted by Gonzales Research and Media Services. Jealous did outperform Hogan in three heavily Democratic jurisdictions, Montgomery, Prince George’s and Baltimore City, but not by the wide margins needed to win the election. Hogan’s popularity remains strong heading into November with at about 71 percent of voters approving of his job performance.
