House Approves NDAA without expansion of Military Lease Exemption

The House Armed Services Committee approved the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 6395) for Fiscal Year 2021 by a vote of 56 - 0.

The provision that we oppose, would allow banks access to rent-free space on military bases was not in the committee-approved bill.  The full house will likely vote on the bill towards the end of July. The Senate version of the bill is still under consideration, and we expect the banker’s provision to be in that bill. If the Banker’s provision survives the Senate discussions, it will be debated in a conference committee to determine whether or not it will be in the final version. The Association will continue to monitor and engage with our delegation members as necessary.
