The Collections Administrator preserves the Credit Union’s assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. Performs the administrative function of credit union collections activities by reviewing and administering account charge off actions, compiling charge off reports, researching and filing insurance claims, resolving member credit bureau reporting disputes, monitoring delinquency reports, and responding to member calls and emails regarding collections.

Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate with members, primarily via telephone, regarding past due accounts and takes appropriate action to resolve delinquency.
Resolves member disputes with credit bureau reporting; and processes credit reporting corrections through the online automated credit dispute verification processing system.
Reviews accounts recommended for charge off to ensure they meet the criteria to be charged off, as established in department policies and procedures. Researches, prepares, and compiles documentation to present the Charge off Recommendation package to the Board of Directors.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Prepares monthly allowance for loan and lease losses (ALLL), modification reports, and real estate owned (REO) reports for submission to Accounting and the Board of Directors.

Experience
Two to Five years of similar or related experience, preferably in a bank or credit union.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
(1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience.

Other Skills
Strong comprehension and analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and particularly Word and Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent grammar, spelling, and sentence construction.
Detail orientated with the ability to multi task are required.
Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
