Signal Financial Holds a Denim Day Fundraiser for “Reach Out and Read” Initiative

On Friday, May 17, 2013, Signal Financial FCU held a Denim Day fundraiser and barbeque to raise money for Reach Out and Read, a nonprofit organization that trains and supports medical providers who give books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading.


Signal Financial employees stepped up for this worthy cause, donating $5 to wear their favorite workplace denim, favorite sports team jersey, or clothing from their countries of origin. At the end of the day, $315 was collected to contribute to Reach Out and Read.


Reach Out and Read currently partners with nearly 200 medical facilities in the MD-DC-VA area, reaching approximately 200,000 children and families. Nationwide, the program serves more than 4 million children and their families, with a special emphasis on serving those in low-income communities.
