Despite making great strides in the past 50 years, the gender wage gap in the United States remains with women earning, on average, only 77 cents for every dollar men earn, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Recent research concludes that despite a narrowing of the gap, women are still disadvantaged in the labor market. While part of this can be attributed to discrimination, some of it comes from a difference in qualifications that still exist.
