In the United States, accidents are the leading cause of death for those under age 44. And across all age groups, an accident claims a life every four minutes.*
These eye-opening statistics help illustrate why many credit unions make a “starter coverage” accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) policy available as a no-cost benefit of membership. While the coverage amount is relatively small—typically, credit union members can receive $1,000 to $3,000 of complimentary coverage—it helps bring awareness to the need for protection. In many cases, members evaluate their needs for coverage and choose higher amounts.
