The bipartisan legislation (H.R. 5266) would change the structure of the CFPB from a single director to a bipartisan commission was introduced in the U.S. House Wednesday.
The Leagues, credit unions and CUNA have been advocating for a commission structure at the CFPB to provide long term continuity and stability. The bill would create a five-person commission appointed by the president to lead the CFPB. Commissioners would serve staggered five-year terms.
