Credit Union leaders took their message to lawmakers on Capitol Hill Wednesday. 20 MD|DC Credit Union Association members, along with the Advocacy Team, participated in Hike the Hill as part of CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference.The key issues discussed with members of the congressional delegation include: credit union tax status, protecting consumers from data breaches, and regulatory reform, support for S. 1255 (The Senate regulatory relief bill). The meetings also offered attendees a chance to build relationships with lawmakers and staff, and thank Senators and Representatives who are serving as honorary chairs for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run for their support.
Maryland and DC Credit Unions had a strong showing at this year's GAC. More than 70 credit union executives representing 27 credit unions particpated in the Association's Advocacy Luncheon and Hike the Hill events.
