Credit Unions Headed to the White House

CUNA & Credit Union CEOs Meeting with President Donald Trump

CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference is off to a strong start. Today, incoming CUNA Chairman Maurice Smith and CUNA president/CEO Jim Nussle will lead a small delegation of credit union CEOs from across the country to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump. They plan on addressing S. 2155, The Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act.

They’ll encourage President Trump to urge the bill's passage in the Senate, and two days later thousands of credit union professionals will hike the Hill to deliver the same message. This is a huge opportunity because more than 5,000 credit union voices at GAC will ring out loud and clear through the halls of Capitol Hill.

“We'll tell President Trump that the country's credit unions support this bill because it gives them a fighting chance against big banks, unburdens them from regulations written for Wall Street, and allows them to give a portion of the $6.1 billion they spend every year complying with regulations back to their more than 110 million members.” Jim Nussle said.

CEOs attending the White House Meeting Include:

Jim Nussle, President and CEO, Credit Union National Association

Maurice Smith, President and CEO, Local Government Employees Credit Union (NC), and Chairman, Credit Union National Association

Lisa Ginter, President and CEO, Community America Credit Union (MO/KS), and Board member, Credit Union National Association
