President’s Day for Del-One FCU is a day for more than 150 employees to gather together to not only fulfill yearly training requirements, but to also recognize and award those employees that went above and beyond in their daily job duties. Branches and departments participated in the Olympic-themed event by creating flags and even wearing costumes to represent their respective areas.
Guest speakers included Lisa Bedinotti from State National, who explained Collateral Protection Insurance and answered relevant questions from staff. Phil Hagen with Red Canary gave updates on Information Security Awareness and red flags to keep in mind to make sure your information remains safe. Andre Lucas, Director of Compliance with the MC/DC League, led an informative and interesting discussion on the Bank Secrecy Act. Rob Ziegler of Lincoln Financial introduced himself to the newer employees and explained his role in assisting with many aspects of Del-One member’s financial portfolios.
Throughout the morning, Bronze, Silver and Gold medals were presented to employees in various areas including MVP awards (both member-facing and non-member facing roles), Mr./ Miss Congeniality, and Helping Hearts, among others. These recipients were previously nominated and voted for by staff.
After a delicious lunch catered by the local Mission BBQ restaurant, the end of the year awards were presented. These awards are also voted on by staff prior to this event. The Information Technology Department won the Department of the Year award. The Branch of the Year was the Seaford Branch. Employee of the Year was Shucca Lawrence, Assistant Director of Accounting. CEO Dion Williams presented the President’s Award to Director of IT, Marc Kidwell.
All staff attending the training day event receives a floating holiday to be used at the employee’s discretion. This event remains a way for Del-One FCU employees, generally located at branches throughout the state of Delaware, to come together as one team to not only fulfill yearly training requirements, but for staff to recognize and be recognized by their peers for doing an amazing job. The excitement of the employees confirms why Del-One FCU was voted Top Workplace and Delaware’s Best Credit Union for the past 6 years in a row.
