On January 1, 2018, Saint Agnes Federal Credit Union changed its name to Five Star Federal Credit Union. The new name emphasizes the five-star service offered by the credit union as well as membership expansion including local businesses in addition to Saint Agnes Hospital employees and their families.
“We are now reaching potential members who previously did not have access to our services,” commented Paul Coakley, Board Chairman. “We have come a long way in our nearly fifty years, providing competitive banking services for Saint Agnes Hospital employees and their families as well as membership opportunities for employees of selected local companies.”
The credit union was founded as Saint Agnes Employees Federal Credit Union by hospital employees in October 1969, with one branch office inside Saint Agnes Hospital. As the credit union grew in asset size over the years, it added a second location in the Maiden Choice Medical Center office park.
Five Star of Maryland Federal Credit Union (FSFCU), headquartered in Baltimore, was founded in 1969. As of December 31, 2017, FSFCU had $51.4 million in assets and approximately 7,000 members. The credit union serves Saint Agnes Hospital employees, local Select Employee Groups and their families.
