Law firms representing private litigants have become increasingly aggressive in pursuing credit unions regarding website and mobile app accessibility. Many credit unions in Maryland and D.C. have received demand letters threatening legal action suggesting the credit unions’ websites are not equally accessible to people with disabilities. The list of states with credit unions that have reported receiving demand letters is now up to 13. CUNA Mutual Group is reporting that some credit unions have also received letters from multiple plaintiff firms.
