In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, First Financial Federal Credit Union of Maryland made a commitment to help the victims of these tragedies. FFFCU made a pledge to match member contributions up to $5,000 and donate an additional $5,000 for this effort. Members responded with donations that were accumulated online and in-branch. The results of this drive yielded a $9,312.00 donation for those in need.
During the month of October, First Financial joined the American Red Cross’ relief effort for the victims. Eric Church, the President and CEO of First Financial stated, “We make it a priority to follow the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people,' by lending our support to charities that are hard at work on the front lines. This is how we as an organization and our generous members can quickly and easily offer a helping hand.”
The American Red Cross is using donated funds currently to provide shelter, food, comfort and emergency support for individuals and families affected by these natural disasters. Financial donations will fund recovery efforts and further challenges that may arise in the months ahead.
