The Association's Advocacy team had its first meeting on Friday with Maryland's new Commissioner of Financial Regulation at the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Tony Salazar was appointed to the post by Governor Larry Hogan in June, replacing Gordon Cooley as Commissioner. Commissioner Salazar indicated his willingness to work with credit unions on issues of concern and was open to holding roundtable discussions with state chartered credit unions. The Advocacy Team will follow up with the Commissioner and looks forward to continuing to build a productive relationship with the Office of the Commissioner.
