First Financial Federal Credit Union of Maryland continued its tradition of supporting education in our community by partnering with Carroll County Public Schools to sponsor this year’s Math 24 Tournament Challenge. The challenge included fifteen elementary schools. Each school sent a team of four mathletes to compete at Friendship Valley Elementary School.
The challenge required each team to make 24 from the four numbers on the game card provided using addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. Each number was available to be used only once. As the competition continued, more cards were introduced. Participants received certificates and the top 4 finalists were awarded medals.
FFFCU supplied t-shirts to each participant as well as refreshments for all volunteers, participants, and family members. “Math 24 is a great way to get kids excited about math, quick thinking, and enhance problem solving skills. We were lucky to take part in such an inspiring community event” said Eric Church, President/CEO of First Financial. “We look forward to next year!”
