The 45th running of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run took place on a picture-perfect, sunny day starting at 7:30 a.m. on the Washington Monument Grounds, Washington, D.C. on April 2. Thank you to our growing number of credit union sponsors and supporters for making it such a success!
This popular run presents a unique opportunity to showcase to our nation’s legislators all the good credit unions do for their members and communities. Credit Union Miracle Day Chair Theresa Mann was interviewed live by Fox5 at the start line and emphasized how credit unions care for their members and communities across the country.
“A big shout out to our co-lead partners, CUNA Mutual Group and PSCU, and the hundreds of credit union volunteers who enjoy helping on race weekend,” said John Bratsakis, Chair of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Race Committee. “We are very pleased to have nearly 200 Members of Congress supporting the race that benefits local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”
A “big check” totaling $580,485 to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was presented at various weekend events. The donation represents credit union and business partner contributions from the Credit Union Cherry Blossom and the Credit Union SacTown Run in Sacramento, California. Of that amount over $102,000 was donated online by runners and running teams. Since credit unions became the title sponsors of the events starting in 2002, over $8 million has been donated to CMNHs nationwide.
