Patricia Folk will retire later this month from the Allegany County Teachers FCU after nearly 40 years, more than 30 of those as President/Treasurer. Under her leadership the credit union grew dramatically from $2.3 million in assets and 1,600 members - to more than $100 million in assets and 9,000 members.

She is a strong advocate for financial literacy, taking the lead in organizing the Western Maryland Chapter's Dollars & Sense Financial Reality Fairs. Since 2011, 11 reality fairs have been held in Allegany County, educating more than 3,500 students.

A celebration honoring Patricia was held over the weekend.

“Patricia’s dedication and commitment to credit unions is extraordinary. From her decades of service to the Allegany County Teachers Federal Credit Union to her outstanding leadership on the Boards of Directors for the MD|DC Credit Union Association and Western Chapter, to her exemplary work on financial literacy, Patricia has made a lasting and significant impact on credit unions and the communities they serve,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association.
