The National Credit Union Association (NCUA) awarded $2.5 million in grants to help low income credit unions undertake initiatives to expand services to underserved communities, train staff, improve cybersecurity and provide students with work experience through internships.
Four MD|DC CUA member credit unions were selected:
To address capacity and growth, Saint Agnes Federal Credit Union and District Government Employees Federal Credit Union both received $15,000 grants.
Department of Commerce Federal Credit Union received a $7,000 grant to be used for cybersecurity projects.
Post Office Credit Union of Maryland also received a grant to be used toward staff training initiatives.
“The grant funds from NCUA will have a tremendous impact on these credit unions and we extend our sincere congratulations to them,” said John Bratsakis, president/CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association.
