Securityplus Awards Educator Grant Recipients
Baltimore, MD, November 9, 2015 – Securityplus Federal Credit Union supports teaching and learning in the Baltimore community through their Educators Grant Program; the program awards grants up to $250 to superior public school educators to help offset the expense of teaching supplies.
Educators throughout Baltimore City and Baltimore County were given the opportunity to submit an essay featuring the topic, “explain the role you play in making a positive difference in the lives of your students”. The many essay submissions were reviewed and ranked, resulting in a total of six winners for the fall 2015 semester.
The following outstanding educators were presented with grants: Thesha Lewis, Elizabeth Tracey, and Kristen Regan (Dogwood Elementary School); Amy West and Esther Ndati (Arlington Elementary/Middle School); and Corey Lester (Woodlawn High School).
As Amy West brilliantly stated in her essay, “Teaching has always been my passion. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of my students; however this isn't always easy on a teacher's salary.”
Securityplus Federal Credit Union is a $365 million not-for-profit, member-owned, full service financial institution, with six branches. Securityplus serves over 34,000 members in the greater Baltimore community.
