Educational Systems FCU attended the Paint Branch High School 'Academic Awards' night to celebrate the achievements of students, and also award one Academy of Finance (AOF) recipient with a $500 award scholarship. The event was hosted at the newly opened Paint Branch High School Auditorium in Burtonsville, MD.
Paint Branch High School is the site of a student run Credit Union location inside the school and staffed by three students from the Academy of Finance. The program offers the opportunity for students to learn real life work experiences. The students were prepared for working at the branch by completing products and services and systems training initially at the Credit Union's Rockville location followed up by on the job training at the beginning of the calendar year which all offered real life experiences, responsibility and financial advice.
"The past year has been a valuable experience for the students in running the day-to-day activity at our On-site Credit Union branch," said Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU. "Financial literacy is so important to young adults venturing out into the world, so educating them early on can help guide them in their adult lives. Dewan Kazmi who is the recipient of the $500 scholarship, was recognized for his hunger to learn, and how to be helpful to all his peers and teachers with sharing the knowledge gained."
