John Spence

At the age of 26, John Spence was named CEO of an international Rockefeller Foundation, overseeing projects in 20 countries.  Three years later, he was recognized as one of America's up-and-coming young business leaders.  He has twice been named one of the Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America by Trust Across America and has been on their global list of the top 100 Thought Leaders in the area of Trustworthy Business Behavior.  

Since 1994, he has presented workshops, speeches and executive coaching to more than 300 organizations, including Microsoft, IBM, GE, AT&T and State Farm.   He has written two books, Excellence by Design and Awesomely Simple and has lectured at more then 90 colleges and universities, including Harvard, Cornell, Stanford, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.   He currently serves as the Director of Best Practice Innovations for the Best Practice Institute.  

He has served as an Executive in Residence for the University of Central Florida's Technology Incubator, as a Special Advisor to the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University, as a lead instructor for the University of North Florida's Executive Education Division, on the Board of Directors for the University of Florida's Center for Enterpreneurship & Innovation, as an advisory to the University of Florida's Leadership Development Institute, and as a senior instructor at the Cornell University Leadership Development School.


Steve Williams

As a co-founder of Cornerstone Advisors, Steve Williams heads up the firm's industry-leading Strategic Planning and Facilitation practice and is actively involved in many of Cornerstone's Technology Planning and Performance Improvement engagements.   His 25 years of experience in the financial services and consulting industries have provided him with a deep working knowledge of operations and delivery systems, particularly in lending processes.   He is an experienced facilitator for management retreats and board planning sessions.  

 He is among the authors of The Mid-Sized Bank Study 2002,   The Cornerstone Report: Benchmarks & Best Practices for Mid-Size Banks and The Cornerstone Report: Benchmarks & Best Practices for Credit Unions. He is a regular contributing author for GonzoBanker , Cornerstone’s well regarded industry blog, and has been published in numerous industry periodicals, including American Banker, Bank Director, BAI Banking Strategies, RMA Journal, and CU Management magazine, a publication of the Credit Union Executives Society. Steve served as a faculty member at the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Management Institute of the Credit Union Executives Society. He taught at the National School of Banking in Fairfield, Conn., and the CUES School of Product and Channel Management.

Prior to Cornerstone Advisors, Steve held a similar position with M ONE, Inc. He was an Assistant Managing Director with Arthur Andersen & Co. and a commercial lender and operations officer with Chase Bank of Arizona. He served on the board of directors and chaired the compensation committee for a $300 million community bank in Southern California.
