This full-day training session will cover the most prevalent compliance issues facing marketers today - including privacy and online compliance.

Learn to avoid compliance problems by auditing your marketing campaigns:

  • What belongs in your advertisements for savings and loan products
  • Special considerations for non-deposit investment products
  • Important rules for use of the word “fixed” in relation to rates
  • What constitutes a prescreen and what requirements the credit union must adhere to

Reviewing marketing materials for compliance:

  • Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their own marketing pieces for review during the program.

Speaker

Mary-Lou Heighes, CUCE, has been involved in the credit union movement since 1989. In addition to compliance, her areas of expertise include marketing, collections, general operations and lending. She is President of Compliance Plus, Inc., which provides compliance, training, and consulting services to credit unions.

She was the Senior Research and Information Consultant for the California/Nevada Credit Union League where she worked for 7 years answering credit union compliance and operational questions and producing bulletins for member credit unions on operational and regulatory changes. She also worked closely with the legal department on statutory changes affecting credit unions.

She has instructed at state and national conferences such as Regulatory Compliance School and written articles for Credit Union Magazine. She is the author of “Understanding Regulations,” part of CUNA’s Volunteer Achievement Program series.
