Prepare and Prevent: A Look at Robbery Prevention & Response from a Law Enforcement Perspective

Session Overview
You’re greeting a customer when in a split second everything changes. How you respond next could have the greatest impact on you and those around you. This session will provide insight into how to prevent and respond to a robbery. Participants will also examine case studies of local incidents.

Civilian Response to Robbery
Discuss a no non-sense approach to prevention and surviving a robbery or active shooter incident in the workplace. Learn how our bodies operate under stress and the concept of RUN, HIDE, or FIGHT. 

Surviving Workplace Invasion
Learn how to prevent and survive invasion by identifying simple ways to protect your credit union from invasion. The attendees will also learn what their actions should be during a workplace invasion.

Critical Medical Care
Identify basic life saving measures that can be used to preserve life if injured in a robbery or active shooter incident. Learn how everyday items can be used to provide first aid until help arrives. 

Participants will also learn:

  • What makes your credit union an easy target for robbery?
  • What policies and procedures you can implement to minimize chances of a robbery during the most vulnerable times; opening and closing?
  • What you actions should be during an armed robbery?
  • What should my actions be when leaving my work place and arriving home?
  • How to implement active threat concepts in physical security planning
  • How to identify work place violence indicators
  • How to provide critical medical care to yourself or others until professional care arrives
  • Discuss what to do when law enforcement arrives.
