Hispanic Banking Workshop

February 21st, 2013 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM

You must log in to register.

There are one million Hispanic residents (and growing) in the Maryland and Greater DC area.

  • Do you have a segment of your field of membership that is Hispanic?
  • Would specific proven strategies to “win” in this fast growing segment be valuable?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, or if you're interested in improving your current practices, please join us on February 21, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a crucial workshop that will address the following topics:

  • The opportunity to “bank” Hispanic individuals in the Maryland & DC market

  • Developing a successful Hispanic banking strategy

  • Knowing what’s important to the Hispanic member

  • Growing your Hispanic banking strategy over time

  • Growing your share of the wallet for an existing Hispanic member

  • Action plan for next steps for your credit union

  • Question and Answers with our noted speaker, Enrique Carrillo

Speaker
Our expert speaker for this session is Enrique Carrillo.  Mr. Carrillo is a senior level executive with an extensive track record of establishing award-winning and nationally-recognized Hispanic and minority programs for both corporate and governmental agencies across the mid-Atlantic and the Southeast U.S.

Most recently, Mr. Carrillo led the development of a Hispanic Banking Program for a local $11 billion financial institution designed to enhance success in attracting and servicing the large and growing Hispanic segment in the Greater Washington market. This role included market analysis, product and service enhancements, bilingual recruiting and deployment strategy, branding and marketing strategy, relationship development, and community outreach, working collaboratively with other senior leaders and partners throughout the Bank. Success is demonstrated by strong gains in the Bank’s Hispanic deposit customer base, growth in deposits per Hispanic Banking customer, and a significant increase in Hispanic household penetration.

Prior to 2006, Mr. Carrillo was responsible for establishing and managing the Hispanic Initiative at Comerica Bank in Michigan to increase and retain the Bank’s Hispanic customer base. He achieved significant above-goal performance in new business development for four consecutive years.

From 1994 to 2001, Mr. Carrillo led the nationally recognized minority outreach program for the U.S. Department of Transportation across 13 states and the District of Columbia in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. His work as Regional Director resulted in numerous awards from the government and non-profit sectors.

Mr. Carrillo has been conferred with numerous awards over the course of his career including:  Washington Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader Award, Crain’s Detroit Business “Dream Team Board”, U.S. Small Business Administration’s Michigan Minority Small Business Champion of the Year, Minority Business Development Agency’s Minority Business Advocate of the Year and Regional Director of the Year by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
