NCUA Releases 2025 Q4 Performance Report
The NCUA recently released its fourth-quarter 2025 state-level credit union data report.
The report shows that, among federally insured credit unions, median assets grew by 3.3% over the year ending in the fourth quarter of 2025. During the same time, median loans outstanding increased by 0.7%, based on the latest Quarterly U.S. Map Review.
Across the country, the median loan-to-share ratio—total loans compared to total shares and deposits—was 70% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025.
Overall membership grew during the year, but the median credit union saw a slight decline of 0.5%. Credit unions with declining membership were usually smaller, with more than half holding less than $50 million in assets.
Nationwide, 88% of federally insured credit unions reported positive net income year-to-date in the fourth quarter of 2025, up from 86% in the same period of 2024.
The NCUA’s Quarterly U.S. Map Review tracks key performance measures for federally insured credit unions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It also includes important state-level economic data, such as unemployment rates and home prices.
