Q3 2025 Credit Union Trends Report from TruStage

The economy is expected to see modest stagflation in 2026, as economic growth remains below trend and inflation remains above target. TruStage tracks that and other key economic trends in its latest Credit Union Trends Report.

Highlights from the Q3 2025 Credit Union Trends Report include:

  • Credit union loan growth rose to 3.9% during the last year due to lower interest rates and rising credit union liquidity.
  • Total consumer credit balances at all lenders rose only 0.3% over the last year, significantly below its long run average of 5%.
  • Credit union new auto loan balances fell 2.3% during the first half of 2025.
  • Credit union first mortgage loan originations rose 27% in the first half of 2025 compared to the first half of 2024.
  • Credit union memberships growth slowed to only 0.8% in the first half of 2025, down from 1.5% in the first half of 2024.

The trends report includes data from the previous two months and is published and distributed by Steven Rick, Chief Economist from TruStage. You can review the Q3 2025 Credit Union Trends Report in its entirety here.
