NCUA Projects to Finish 2025 $7 Million Under Budget

The NCUA expects to close out 2025 with spending below its approved budget, according to a briefing during last week’s board meeting.

NCUA officials said the agency is projecting to come in $7 million under budget for the year. The savings are tied in part to its Voluntary Separation Program, which covered staff departures in 2025.

The program carried a total cost of $13.6 million, including $8.8 million to pay out earned annual leave, $3.5 million for incentive payments, and $1.3 million in administrative and related expenses. Those costs, however, are being offset by other savings in payroll, travel, and contracting.

Board Chairman Kyle Hauptman noted that the projected savings will not affect the agency’s ability to carry out oversight of federally insured credit unions.

He said the 2026-27 staff budget is expected to be released next week.
