SECU Celebrates Junior Explorer Day

Highlights of the Day Included:

  • Budgeting Basics
Explorers built simple budgets using the 50/30/20 rule and learned to make smart spending decisions by distinguishing between needs and wants.
  • Real-World Money Skills
At the SECU MD Foundation Store, participants decided whether to save, spend, or give back—practicing real-life financial choices.
  • Giving Back
The Explorers created cozy blankets for the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), inspiring a $500 donation from SECU on behalf of those who chose to “give.”
  • Career Connections
Team members from across SECU—including Digital, Fraud, Retail, Learning & Development, and Member Experience—shared how they serve members and make a difference in the community.
  • Wellness Focus
The importance of self-care was discussed during a stretching and meditation session designed to promote wellness and balance.

The event concluded with a graduation ceremony, recognizing each Explorer’s achievements. Junior Explorer Day offered a valuable opportunity to build early financial literacy and spark curiosity about future careers.
