Credit Unions Ready to Support Members Affected by Federal Government Downsizing

credit union exterior

Credit unions are offering financial assistance and payment flexibility for members affected by the federal government downsizing. Members are encouraged to contact their credit union directly to determine eligibility and to find out about available relief programs.

Many credit unions offer a variety of financial assistance options which may include:

  • Penalty-free share certificate withdrawals
  • Payment deferrals on existing loans
  • Line of credit increases
  • Loan adjustments on a case-by-case basis
  • Auto loan refinancing
  • Increased credit card and credit line limits

Beyond these options, many credit unions also provide free financial counseling to help members plan for the future and to navigate any financial challenges they may be facing.

If you are a credit union member and you want to discuss options and find out what programs you may be eligible for, please reach out to your credit union directly.

You can find your credit union’s website by using the NCUA credit union locator (search by name or location).
