Association & Credit Union Leaders Meet with Sen. Alsobrooks
The MD|DC Credit Union Association’s Advocacy Team, along with credit union leaders, met with U.S. Sen. Angela Alsobrooks last week to discuss key issues impacting credit unions.

The conversation focused on the importance of preserving the credit union tax exemption, a priority that Sen. Alsobrooks continues to support. Credit unions representatives shared how their tax status allows them, and other Maryland credit unions, to deliver more than $340 million in direct financial benefits to over 2.2 million members. The group also emphasized the need for a strong, independent regulator that understands the unique structure and mission of credit unions, helping to ensure a safe, sound, and member-focused system.
“Meetings like this are critical in building strong relationships with policymakers and ensuring the credit union voice is heard on Capitol Hill,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO of MD|DC Credit Union Association. “I want to thank the credit union leaders from Educational Systems FCU, IBEW 26 FCU, and Market USA FCU who joined us and shared powerful stories about the impact they’re making in their communities.”
