candidates for Virginia Governor

Virginia is making history as the state heads into a groundbreaking gubernatorial race: for the first time ever, both major party nominees will be women. With no challengers stepping up to oppose former Rep. Abigail Spanberger for the Democratic nomination, she’s set to face off against Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears who secured the Republican nomination over the weekend.

In Maryland, Governor Wes Moore is shutting down any presidential speculation. Speaking to the Baltimore Sun, Moore says he’s not eyeing a 2028 run for the White House, emphasizing instead his commitment to the people of Maryland.

In the nation’s capital, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is pressing Congress to act quickly before its upcoming recess. She’s urging the House to take up a Senate-approved measure that would let the District spend according to its approved 2025 budget. Without action, DC could face $1 billion in mid-year cuts.
