The event brought together credit union leaders, the Commissioner of Financial Regulation Tony Salazar and his team, as well as the Maryland State Innovation Team, led by Chief Innovation Officer Francesca Ioffreda. The discussion focused on leveraging the Maryland Community Investment Venture (MCIV) Fund to establish fintech partnerships with state-chartered credit unions to help broaden access to capital and financial services in the state’s low- to moderate-income communities.

“The goal is to develop fintech partnerships to expand access to financial services and drive economic opportunity in underserved areas. We appreciate the collaboration with the Maryland Governor’s Office, the Maryland Department of Labor, along with Destinations Credit Union, MECU Credit Union, Point Breeze Credit Union, SECU of Maryland and Har-co Credit Union.”

The MCIV Fund was established by the Access to Banking Act which was signed into law by Governor Moore in 2023. Association President/CEO John Bratsakis serves on the fund’s advisory board.
