MD Senate Version of Interchange Bill Withdrawn
A Senate hearing scheduled for March 6 on SB917, which would remove interchange fees from taxes and gratuities, has been cancelled and the bill has been withdrawn. Unless the House version of the bill, HB29, is favorably voted out of the House Economic Matters Committee and passes the full House of Delegates, the legislation will not move forward this year. The MD|DC Credit Union Association has actively opposed this legislation at every stage, including testifying in opposition to HB29 in late January. It appears unlikely the bill will advance in the House of Delegates. The Association will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on any new developments.
