Cedar Point FCU Holds Cybersecurity All Hands Training
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union recently held its day- long All Hands Training which focused on best practices for employees to better guard against cyberattacks. Employees participated in morning breakout sessions, cyber security main sessions, a Q&A panel, and a community project for a local organization.

For the breakout sessions, employees could choose two out of four topics to attend. These sessions focused on important soft skills that help employees to provide exceptional member service and create a welcoming and effective team. The sessions introduce a variety of tools for employees to implement with both members and colleagues.
The sessions Building a Healthy Team and Communicating with Empathy emphasized the importance of active listening, building rapport, and collaboration when navigating interpersonal communication. Mastering Time Management introduced tools like the 7 Principles of Time Management, to-do lists, and additional digital tools to help keep employees on track and invest their time wisely. The Session Situational Awareness emphasized the importance of staying alert and paying attention to ones surroundings to keep both the employee and others safe.
The day’s main sessions focused on Cybersecurity. The ever-evolving nature of cyber-attacks and fraud makes it essential that employees know both the warning signs and prevention methods to keep Credit Union and member information safe. This session covered password security and social engineering warning signs and best practices to prevent an attack from happening. Afterward, a Q&A panel featuring security and cybersecurity experts answered questions submitted by employees.
Employees also participated in a community project for the Three Oaks Center, a non-profit organization that provides housing and stabilization services to veterans, homeless individuals, at-risk individuals, and families in need in southern Maryland. Employees put together over 100 care kits that included hygiene products, snacks, hats, gloves, and an educational card on cybersecurity.
