Association Hosts Town Hall on NCUA’s 2025 Supervisory Priorities
NCUA Eastern Region Director John Kutchey provided key insights into the agency’s 2025 supervisory priorities and how credit unions can prepare for upcoming exams during a well-attended town hall.

More than 115 credit union leaders participated in the discussion on Thursday, engaging with Kutchey on key topics outlined in last month’s Letter to Credit Unions, which details the agency’s supervisory focus and updates to its examination program.
Kutchey acknowledged ongoing earnings pressures but noted that credit unions entered the current rate environment with strong net worth. To help credit unions successfully navigate emerging challenges, the NCUA is prioritizing assessments of credit risk, balance sheet management, risks to earnings and net worth, and cybersecurity.
Attendees also raised questions about the future of overdraft regulation, potential changes to the exam cycle and the impact of evolving federal workforce policies.
