Securityplus FCU Supports Minority-Owned Businesses at recent Black Business Expo

Securityplus FCU demonstrated its commitment to supporting minority-owned businesses and fostering community growth during the recent Black Business Expo hosted by AFRO News, the oldest black-owned business in Maryland, where Securityplus played a key role in educating attendees about the benefits of Small Business Administration (SBA) lending.

As part of the Business Expo, Anthony Carpenter, Vice President of Business Services at Securityplus, delivered a compelling presentation on SBA lending guidelines. His seminar, titled “Unlocking Your Business Potential,” provided entrepreneurs with valuable insights into accessing capital through SBA-approved lending, understanding financial literacy programs, and utilizing tailored services to meet the unique needs of small businesses.

“Events like the Black Business Expo are vital in creating equal opportunities for growth and empowerment,” said Carpenter. “They allow us to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve by providing essential knowledge and resources to minority-owned businesses.”

In addition to Carpenter’s presentation, the event highlighted the collaborative efforts between Securityplus’s community branches and business relationships. Atia Ross and Samira Malek, Community Branch Leaders, were in attendance to engage with attendees and discuss how Securityplus can assist both individuals and businesses in achieving their financial goals.

“It is a profound honor for Securityplus to participate in the Black Business Expo. I care deeply about our community and the small businesses that make the community possible. At the heart of our mission is community-focused financial services. It is with caring service that we ensure every community member has the resources necessary for financial stability and success,” said Ray K. Ragan, interim Chief Executive Officer at Securityplus.

The Black Business Expo, themed “Celebrating Black-Owned Small Businesses,” aligns with Securityplus’s mission to foster economic development and financial empowerment. The event provided a unique opportunity for learning, networking, and growth within the Black business ecosystem.
