Credit Unions Offer Financial Relief to Those Impacted by the Key Bridge Collapse

In the wake of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, the MD|DC Credit Union Association is collaborating with Governor Wes Moore’s Administration to coordinate financial assistance for those impacted.

Over 40 credit unions in the region have stepped up, providing a range of relief options. This includes deferments on consumer loan payments, deferments on mortgage payments, and fee waivers. Some credit unions are establishing special loan programs to address specific needs.

Those affected by the bridge collapse, are encouraged to reach out to their credit union directly. All credit unions will work directly with individual members to meet their specific needs and circumstances.

“Credit unions, just as they did during the pandemic, federal government shutdowns, and the 2008 financial crisis, stand ready to assist their members in times of hardship,” stated John Bratsakis, President/CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association. “As dedicated community partners, credit unions are committed to ensuring the financial well-being of their members and the communities they serve.”
