Credit Unions Meet with Rep. Trone
Point Breeze Credit Union and the MD|DC Credit Union Association convened a roundtable on Friday with Rep. David Trone who represents Maryland’s 6th congressional district. Elected in 2018, Trone has announced his candidacy to fill the seat of retiring U.S. Senator Ben Cardin.
“We appreciate Rep. Trone taking the time to meet with credit unions,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association. “The roundtable provided an excellent opportunity for an in-depth conversation with Rep. Trone and also allowed us to demonstrate how credit unions contribute to the financial well-being of their members and the communities they serve.”
Acknowledging his background as a businessman, Rep. Trone said he understands the challenges faced by credit unions and expressed his commitment to preventing excessive regulations. He reiterated his support for the credit union tax status and encouraged credit unions to not only share policy challenges but also present viable solutions that he can bring to his colleagues in Congress.
The roundtable, held at the Hunt Valley headquarters of Point Breeze Credit Union, brought together CEOs, executives, and volunteers from various local credit unions, including APL FCU, Del-One FCU, Educational Systems FCU, First Financial FCU, Johns Hopkins FCU, Lafayette FCU, MECU Credit Union, and SECU.
