SECU’S Sweiderk Named To The MD Daily Record’s Power 100 List
For the third year in a row, SECU’s President and CEO, David Sweiderk, has been named to The Maryland Daily Record’s Power 100 List for 2023.
The Power 100 List spotlights the most influential people – from finance, healthcare, higher education and beyond– who play a large part in shaping the arts, culture, lifestyle, civic conversations and economy of Maryland. The honorees are chosen each year by The Daily Record’s editorial leadership team, along with feedback from readers and other stakeholders.
“We are thrilled that Dave has been recognized by the Daily Record and other peers and changemakers for a third time. Throughout his time at SECU, Dave has proven to be a compassionate, driven leader,” remarked Juancho Baino, Chaiman of the Board of Directors. “His guidance and encouragement have not only had a positive impact on our SECU employees, but also to our members. He has led the charge for digital-first banking improvements, and consistently puts our members first, with a holistic focus on financial wellness and equity.”
Thanks to Sweiderk’s commitment, SECU remains focused on serving others with empathy. In its fourth-annual Kindness Campaign this year, SECU leadership, employees, and members paid it forward, accomplishing over 600,000 acts of kindness across the state of Maryland– everything from fundraising for scholarships through the SECU MD Foundation, to packing nonperishable food kits for food insecure students in Baltimore City schools.
As President and CEO, he has continued to innovate and grow internal employee initiatives, working with HR to find new ways to show appreciation to employees through impactful and supportive programs and incentives. And through Sweiderk’s leadership, SECU continues to hold steady in deposits, ramping up CD options in 2023 in response to industry trends and member feedback.
“Maryland has some of the greatest leaders in every business sector – from law to finance, to healthcare and beyond. To be recognized among this list of leaders is an absolute honor,” stated Sweiderk. “I am so incredibly honored to be named to this esteemed list once again, and give special thanks to the entire team at SECU. The work they do for our members and our community does not go unnoticed, and they inspire me to show up and challenge myself every day.”
Among other honors, Sweiderk has also been named to The Daily Record’s 2022 list of Influential Marylanders, the 2020 Most Admired CEO list, and SECU was honored by Forbes as one of the Best-In-State Credit Unions for 2022.
