Maryland Comptroller Focuses on Financial Wellness During Visit to SkyPoint FCU
Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman recently visited SkyPoint FCU’s Silver Spring branch where she engaged in a discussion with President/CEO Carla Decker, Chair Mel Tull, and MD|DC Credit Union Association President/CEO John Bratsakis.
The focus of the conversation was on the vital role credit unions play in bolstering the financial well-being of families and communities across Maryland.
During the visit, Comptroller Lierman learned about the diverse services and programs SkyPoint FCU offers to empower its members, particularly those who may be underbanked or underserved. As a Certified Depository Financial Institution, SkyPoint tailors its resources and innovative programs to specifically address the needs of mid-to-lower-income communities to foster financial well-being.
Additionally, SkyPoint’s designation as a Juntos Avanzamos credit union furthers its commitment to financial inclusion. Through the program, SkyPoint FCU provides culturally competent financial counseling to its members, helping them navigate the complexities of the U.S. financial system and access safe, affordable financial services.
“We want to thank Comptroller Lierman for visiting SkyPoint FCU and for her continued support,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association. “We appreciate her partnership in helping advance financial wellness to communities across Maryland.”
