Two Credit Union CFOs Earn Spot on BBJ 2023 Top Ten List

The Baltimore Business Journal (BBJ) has selected ten local Chief Financial Officers to recognize as this year’s Top CFOs and two of those honorees are from our credit union community.

Thad Egner, CFO, Securityplus Federal Credit Union – Egner began his financial services career as an intern in 2008 at Merchants Bank of Bangor in Pennsylvania.

Egner was named CFO at Baltimore-based Securityplus in June 2022 after more than 15 years in finance, banking, accounting, investments and asset liability management, including eleven years in banking and credit unions. He had previously served as vice president of finance at First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union in Pennsylvania. Securityplus CEO Tricia Szurgot was at First Commonwealth, too, before being recruited to lead Securityplus’s strategic transformation.

“She reached out to me and offered me the opportunity to come down here to Baltimore,” Egner explained to the BBJ. “It was an exceptional team that they had here. And I just could not pass up the opportunity to come to this area and help.”

Marisa Ehrlich, CFO, Point Breeze Credit Union – Ehrlich has been in the credit union movement for over 20 years starting as a teller at Baltimore County Employees FCU in 1999. She rose to VP of Finance while there and has been the Chief Financial Officer at Point Breeze Credit Union since 2020.

As Ehrlich told the BBJ,  “Working up through the ranks gave me the opportunity to see how all the pieces of the credit union come together and it really gives you a sense of appreciation for what your team members do every day.”
