Point Breeze CU Charity Golf Tournament Raises $30,000 for the Maryland Food Bank

Point Breeze Credit Union held its annual “The Harvest” Golf Tournament to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (MFB) on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Hunt Valley Country Club.

For five years, Point Breeze’s annual “The Harvest” Golf Tournament has offered an afternoon of premier golf, lively competition, and the opportunity to give back to fellow Marylanders in need. This year’s tournament raised $30,000 to support MFB’s ongoing hunger-relief efforts across the state.

The Maryland Food Bank partners with local community organizations across the state, from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore. It supports approximately 320 Network Partners that collectively provide nearly 1,200 distribution points with much-needed food for their local communities. Together, MFB’s statewide network of food assistance brings enough resources to provide more than 111,000 meals every day (over 40 million meals annually) to hungry children, seniors, veterans, and hard-working families, meeting the immediate needs of hungry Marylanders while simultaneously working to create pathways out of hunger.

“At Point Breeze, we believe it is important to support the communities where we live and work and promote the wellbeing of others,” said Tonia Niedzialkowski, President and CEO of Point Breeze Credit Union. “Inflation and increased food costs have made it more challenging than ever for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and amplifies the value of organizations like the Maryland Food Bank. We are grateful for the success of “The Harvest” Golf Tournament and the many participants and sponsors who support us year after year.”

“This event provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness around food insecurity while bolstering the work we do in support of community organizations all over the state,” said Carmen Del Guercio, MFB’s President & CEO. “We sincerely appreciate Point Breeze Credit Union hosting “The Harvest” Golf Tournament once again and we are so grateful to all those responsible for making this year’s event such a big success!”

With the support of participating golfers and many generous community sponsors over the years, “The Harvest” has helped Point Breeze raise a combined total of $160,000 in donations to MFB since the tournament’s inaugural year in 2018.
