NIH FCU Repeats as One of the “Best Credit Unions to Work For”
For the second year in a row, The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) has been named as one of the nation’s “Best Credit Unions to Work For” by American Banker.
NIHFCU ranked #9 in the $500 Million to $1 Billion asset size. Winners were selected through two different surveys with the help of Best Companies Group.
The first survey examined employee satisfaction and covered eight areas, including leadership and planning, corporate culture and communication, and overall engagement. Employees at the winning institutions, like NIHFCU, reported a better work-life balance, more effective corporate communication, and more authority to make decisions. The second survey evaluated the benefits and policies of each credit union, ranging from monetary perks and work atmosphere, to social gatherings and professional development opportunities.
This year, NIHFCU was recognized for its “Coffee with the CEO” sessions, where staff across the credit union are invited for one-on-one sessions with the CEO to express their ideas to enhance the credit union’s “Banking with Heart” mission. NIHFCU was also cited for allowing employees to donate accrued sick time to other staff members in need.
“We are so honored to be recognized as a great place to work in back-to-back years. Our staff deserves all the credit for living our STRIVE core values, and making the NIHFCU a fulfilling environment to work at, and a safe, welcoming, and friendly place for our members to bank. Thank you to all NIHFCU team members who each have a part in us winning this fantastic award,” said Rick Wieczorek, NIHFCU’s president & CEO.
