Andrews FCU Supports Local Schools and Education to Begin School Year

To begin the 2023-24 school year, Andrews Federal continued its commitment to education by supporting schools and classrooms across its stateside community.

According to AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers typically spend hundreds of dollars out of their own pockets to buy classroom supplies each year. When organizations like Andrews Federal help to defray these costs, students benefit from an engaging learning environment and teachers are able to keep more of their hard-earned money to take care of their own families.

Andrews Federal selected a school in each of the four states where it has a branch presence and donated funds to each school as a way to aid teachers and reduce the expenses they often incur when preparing for a new year. The schools that received funds included Thomas Stone High School (Waldorf, Md.), Achievement Preparatory Academy Pcs (Washington, D.C.), Saratoga Elementary School (Springfield, Va.) and Wilbur Watts Intermediate School (Burlington N.J.).

In addition to these donations, Andrews Federal also provided donations to schools on three local military bases: Imagine Andrews at Joint Base Andrews; Learn DC PCS at Joint Base Bolling-Anacostia; and Endeavour at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

According to Andrews Federal Chief Operating Officer Damita Robinson, education is integral to the work and the mission of the credit union. “Whether we are providing resources for schools and teachers or funding scholarships for students, developing our future leaders and community members is a priority for Andrews Federal,” Robinson said. “When we support education, we know we’re making an impact that will resonate for years to come as the students are better able to learn, build stronger futures and achieve their goals.”
