CU Foundation MD|DC Awards $13,000 in Scholarships
The CU Foundation MD|DC announced the selection of 13 scholarship award winners through its Credit Union College Scholarship Program.
In addition to the 12 annual essay, photo, and video scholarships, this year a special Ron Shockley Essay Scholarship has been added. The additional scholarship award is sponsored by First Financial FCU in honor of Mr. Shockley’s retirement from First Financial FCU, and in recognition of his dedication and service to the credit union and to The CU Foundation MD|DC.
The scholarship program sponsored by the CU Foundation MD|DC featured three application categories – essay, photo, & video.

College or trade school-bound members of any credit union based in Maryland or D.C. or other credit unions affiliated with the MD|DC CUA are eligible. The scholarship program is completely turnkey and free.
“Our program is designed so credit unions can offer the scholarship as their own,” noted Foundation Director Leigh Philibosian. “It’s a great tool for credit unions to use to increase youth membership and educate students on credit union values and services. Congratulations to all the credit unions who had scholarship winners this year, and most importantly congratulations to all of the award-winning students as they further their education.”
