Association Meets with DC Banking Officials
MD|DC Credit Union Association CEO John Bratsakis and VP of Advocacy Rory Murray recently met with DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) Commissioner Karima Woods and Associate Commissioner of Banking Samuel Fuller.

During the meeting, they discussed several key topics including DISB’s supervisory and examination responsibilities for credit unions that choose to transition to a DC charter. They also explored opportunities for collaboration between the Association and DISB in promoting financial literacy and preventing adult financial exploitation.
The Association’s Advocacy team also discussed bills pending before the city council, along with legislation introduced last session, the Stop Discrimination by Algorithms Act of 2021, which the department confirmed it opposes in its current form. Moving forward, the Association and DISB discussed continuing to engage regularly through quarterly meetings.
