DC Council Considers Financial Literacy Bill Again
Councilmember Robert White has introduced the Financial Literacy Education in Schools Amendment Act of 2023.
The bill would require DC Public Schools to develop a financial literacy course as an elective for 11th and 12th graders. This is the third time White has sponsored the bill.
“My goal with this legislation is to make sure DC students get financial knowledge early on to level the playing field for students who may not have trusted adults sharing financial tools with them,” said Councilmember Robert White.
The Association testified in support of the legislation introduced last year and will continue to work with the bill’s sponsor and stakeholders to advance the measure.
